Star Spore
Ross Kessler - Philadelphia
A large, glowing star encased in a stellated octahedron hangs suspended in the air, surrounded by a dozen smaller spores. The main star pulses slowly and quietly, inviting participants to touch. Activating the star sends out its biochromatic energy to charge the nearby spores.
Philadelphia-based artist, designer, and fabricator Ross "Hatter" Kessler specializes in interactive installations. Using light and story as his primary media, he creates playscapes of surprise and wonder. His installations and LED costume collaborations lend themselves to environments that enchant the audience to connect and explore as active participants. His work has been exhibited at NYFW, festivals as large as Burning Man, and themed events and attractions across the east coast.
