Here Now & Now Here urge us to question humanity and our place in this world in the context of AI. Xeus’s AI was trained on Casper David Friedrich’s sublime picture of the unknown - Wanderer above the Sea of Fog, and taught the paragraphs from Charles Darwin's Origin of Species.

Xeus juxtaposes the hand-painted, whirling motif of confetti as a pictorial depiction of hope for the future and celebration of life. Developed from over a thousand iterations, the mix of human-crafted and machine-made presents a surprising attraction with a new perspective. In this trio installation, Xeus accentuates the awareness of space and time with his planar composition that simultaneously blends left, right, backward and forward, embracing the constantly expanding horizon.

Here Now & Now Here symbolize the exploration that brings us closer to understanding life and its many forms, and honor life’s fragility and our potential for growth amidst the sea of fog.
