Echoes
Torin Blankensimth - Brooklyn
Echoes is an interactive artwork shaped by the collective motion of its participants, pairing each individual’s current pose with the closest match from prior visitors. For those who choose to be recorded, their video and pose are added to this evolving experience in real-time. The seed for this Echoes started with the idea of creating an artwork that's created by everyone that comes to experience it.
Torin is a freelance creative technologist, real-time graphics artist, and educator focused on creating restorative mixed-reality installations, interactive experiences, and open-source creative tools. He's been teaching courses at Parsons School of Design since 2020 on advanced creative coding, immersive environments and adaptive technology. During his time at Studio Elsewhere, Torin crafted immersive environments for medical staff, patients, and children in clinical settings. Torin is also the co-creator of Shader Park - an open source creative coding framework for creating shaders in javascript. He also co-created the MediaPipe plugin for TouchDesigner allowing artist to easily utilize motion tracking AI in TD.
